Private pre-launch service
Roost's managed service has not publicly launched and has no public signup. Access is limited to private pre-launch participants whose accounts are created by Roost's operator. Features, limits, and availability may change as the service is developed. There is no promise that the service will remain free or continue indefinitely. If paid service is introduced, you will be given notice and a choice before being charged.
Your account and devices
You are responsible for providing accurate account information, keeping control of your email account, password, and authorized devices, and for activity performed through your account. Use a strong, unique password if you add one. Promptly revoke a lost or untrusted device and contact[email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access.
Capacity is limited during private pre-launch. The operator may decline to create accounts or pause enrollment when the service is full. One person may not evade account, identity, rate, storage, or capacity limits by seeking or coordinating additional operator-created accounts.
Acceptable use
You may not use Roost to:
- break the law or violate another person’s rights;
- access or attempt to access an account, device, system, or data without authorization;
- distribute malware, facilitate phishing or spam, or operate abusive automated traffic;
- probe, bypass, or interfere with authentication, rate limits, isolation, network controls, or security;
- disrupt the service or impose unreasonable load on shared infrastructure; or
- use service content or access to harass, exploit, or harm others.
Good-faith security reports are welcome at[email protected]. Do not access another user’s data or degrade the service while testing a report.
Your content
You keep ownership of content you submit to Roost and are responsible for having the right to use it. You give Roost permission to process, transmit, store, and back up that content only as needed to provide, secure, and support the service. Do not submit content that these terms prohibit.
Roost’s backups are operational recovery material, not a guaranteed archival service. Keep an independent copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.
Availability and changes
Roost may be unavailable because of maintenance, failures, provider outages, security incidents, or capacity constraints. Features may be added, changed, limited, or removed. Roost does not promise uninterrupted, error-free, or permanent access, any particular uptime, or recovery of all content.
Suspension and termination
Access may be limited, suspended, or disabled to address abuse, a security risk, legal requirements, noncompliance with these terms, capacity or operational emergencies, or harm to Roost or others. When it is reasonable and safe, Roost will try to explain the action. You may stop using the service at any time and may contact support to request account deletion. Disabling an account does not by itself delete its data; see thePrivacy Policy for current retention details.
Open-source software and hosted service
The Roost source code published atgithub.com/cefege/roost is licensed under theGNU General Public License v3.0 only. That license governs your use, copying, modification, and distribution of the published software.
These terms separately govern access to the private pre-launch managed service at Roost-operated domains and infrastructure. The GPL license for the source code does not grant an account, hosted capacity, support entitlement, rights to Roost-operated domains or provider accounts, or permission to misuse the managed service.
No warranties
To the extent permitted by law, the private pre-launch managed service is provided “as is”and “as available”, without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability, security, or data preservation. You use the service at your own risk.
Limits of responsibility
To the extent permitted by law, Roost and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, revenue, business, or opportunity arising from the private pre-launch managed service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.
Changes and support
These terms may be updated as the private pre-launch managed service develops. The date above will be updated when they change. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms; if you do not agree, stop using the managed service. For support or questions about these terms, email[email protected].
